Thinking about
Upgrading to a new Orange handset?
You probably want
to upgrade your current Orange handset because
it is becoming slightly outdated and you
are attracted by a newer model phone. Upgrading
your handset is the way to go if you want
to keep your current monthly talk plan and
Orange mobile phone number and change to
a new handset.
Upgrading can work out very expensive compared
to the alternative of buying a new package
with the handset of your choice. If your
contract with Orange is less than 12 months
old you will not only have to pay for the
new handset, but will also be subject to
Orange's Upgrade admin fees as detailed
further down this page.
IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE:
- Just Talk, Boxed & Ready or OVP
Virgin customers cannot upgrade handsets.
- There is no "14 day money back
guarantee" option with Orange handset
upgrades.
- Orange Care (Handset Insurance) is not
included free when you Upgrade to a new
handset - Care is optional and charged
at £5.00 per month if chosen.
Is Upgrade really the
answer for me?
The main consideration
to make when thinking about a handset Upgrade
is as to whether or not you really do need
to retain your current Orange mobile phone
number.
If the answer is a definate yes and having
a new Orange mobile number is a major problem
for you, then an upgrade has to be the way
forward and is the only way you can keep
your current Orange mobile telephone number.
FAQs about Upgrading...
- Who can upgrade?
- Any
Orange customer may upgrade to a new
phone, providing of course that your
current account is up to date. The
length of time as a subscriber to
the current agreement and your previous
payment history to date will be taken
into consideration.
- If you
have only had your account for a few
months it is going to be very expensive
to upgrade, quite rightly, Orange
subsidised your current phone cost
by means of a commission payable to
the connecting dealer and in return
for this you promised and agreed to
paying 12 months line rental. This
loss of line rental payments has got
to be saved and this is achieved by
charging a higher upgrade fee on your
subsequent Orange bill following the
upgrade.
- Should
you have ever missed a payment to
Orange, or defaulted in any way, you
may be refused an upgrade or asked
for a deposit (to be held by Orange)
for the first 12 months of the new
contract life.
- How do I go
about my upgrade?
- To upgrade
your current phone, here at the gomarketcity
we do our best to make the procedure
as painless as possible for you. You
are required to enter into a new agreement
with Orange for a further 12 months
which will start from the time of
upgrade. We offer Secure Online Ordering
for your upgrade.

you have decided which phone
you wish to upgrade to, click
here to complete our upgrade enquiry form.
Then a member of our specialist upgrade

for you and will take further details

- We will

this into your new phone, call the
Orange upgrade department and they
will map your old phone number to
the new Sim card and hey presto you
have upgraded! Full details of how
to complete this task are sent out
with the Sim card direct to your current
address.
- How much will
it cost me to upgrade?
- Your
Orange upgrade consists of two parts:
- The
cost of the phone. This is as outlined
in our upgrade prices as above.
- The
Orange administration fee which
is noted below in the table.
Please Note - The table produced below

it take to upgrade?

- Why don't
I just cancel and begin with a new airtime
agreement?
- Bearing
in mind the above you may say "why
don't I just cancel and start again
with a new contract?" This of
course you can do providing you have
completed the minimum term on your
current airtime agreement and almost
certainly it will be cheaper than
upgrading your current phone with
the Orange upgrade scheme currently
in place, please bear in mind the
following when considering beginning
a new airtime agreement against an
upgrade.
- You
will lose your current phone number
which would be a major disadvantage
if you use your phone for business
or indeed have a large number of people
who regularly contact you on it.
