What is Portability?

Portability means that you can take your mobile number with you when you move from one network to a different network. Your existing network will only allow you to transfer out if you have completed your minimum contract period (usually 12 months) and you have no outstanding issues or bills with them.

The PAC number

The first step is to obtain a PAC (porting authorisation code) from your network or service provider. This number is valid for 30 days and consists of three letters and six numbers. Do not cancel your current contract as the transfer does this automatically. Some service providers charge to take a number away from them. Please check with your current service provider to establish if this is the case, as it will be charged on your final airtime bill.

How long does it take to transfer my number?

Transfers between networks normally take about 7 days to complete but can take a little longer at Bank Holiday periods. We do inform you of the expected date of transfer.

All Vodafone handsets become active on the day of the transfer and temporary numbers are not available. However all T-Mobile, o2 and Orange handsets have temporary numbers while the transfer is being processed.

If you wish to transfer your current mobile number, please read the details below. If you choose to obtain your PAC number from your current mobile network and order a new mobile phone from gomarketcity, you can simply enter your PAC code when ordering online from our website or give us the details over the telephone and we will process your number transfer.

Orange - Transferring your Orange Pay As You Go number to Orange Pay Monthly »

You can transfer an Orange Pay As You Go number, after a minimum period of three months, to a new Orange pay monthly contract. You will be subject to a normal credit check by Orange and will be required to provide us with the second digit of your password and the second digit of your PIN. It is important to note that your Just Talk will lose service as soon as the contract connection takes place and you will be without service until the new contract handset arrives. Any unused credit on the Pay As You Go handset will be lost so you are advised to keep your credit to a minimum to avoid financial loss. Orange will not reimburse any lost Pay As You Go credit. However, credit can be transferred to another Orange Pay As You Go handset prior to the monthly contract connection, by contacting Orange Pay As You Go customer services on 07973 100 451. Both parties need to be present to do this and you will both be required to confirm your passwords and PIN.

It is very important to note that a transfer from Orange Pay As You Go to Orange Pay Monthly MUST be done at the time of connection. It cannot be done at a later date.

In the event that you are moving to an Orange contract following the loss or theft of a Pay As You Go handset, and a bar has been put on the handset, this must be lifted before the connection can take place.

Please note the following restrictions:-

1) Transferring a Pay As You Go number to a monthly contract with Orange is NOT available to business customers. It is only available on domestic accounts.
2) The monthly contract cannot be set up as a Talkshare.
3) The Pay As You Go account must be in your name in order to transfer the number to a monthly contract.

Although you have the advantage of a new connection package offer, Orange treats it as an upgrade, and as such the 14 day money back guarantee does not apply. In accordance with the distance selling regulations only 7 days from the date of connection are available for any change of mind and cancellation.
